Report From the Bahamas

I thought this article was really interesting, and I agreed with many points the author made.  I feel that it is true, we as a society, are so focused on these groups that we are made for us.  We are told to connect with people who are similar to us, the same gender, race, class, etc.  But that truly isn't what makes people connect.  The shared experiences and emotions we feel, are in fact what group us together and form these connections.  This is shown by the white Irish girl relating more to the black women being abused, because they shared a similar experience; living under the same roof as an alcoholic.
