This was a really strong article for me. So many lines from this piece jumped out at me. The first being the line relating rape to a compliment. It is completely mind blowing to me that a culture such as this one surrounding rape even exists. How men use little girls, elderly, and disabled people, ones who can't defend themselves, as trophies. It sickens me that the blame of being raped falls in the lap of the person getting raped, saying that "only nice girls get raped", or wearing suggestive clothes was "asking for it." It truly is repulsive that people have views such as rape culture, and shows what a sad world we live in today.

I agree, this article was very strongly written. And I also find it repulsing how people find it okay to use little girls, the elderly and the disabled as trophies. As well as the one who has been the victim of a rape is often considered the one to blame because they were the one who provoked the rapist. None of that ever makes sense. It is time to put a stop to this. And I hope we find a way soon.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I really liked how the article pointed out that we need to stop teaching females to protect them selves from rape and teach males to not rape. Its ridiculous how much effort we have to go through to try and prevent rape when most men have no idea of the fear they cause by being ignorant of rape culture. Rape needs to stop being glorified in our culture.
