I found this article particularly interesting just from reading the title. I found it even more interesting the connection Vandana Shiva brought to my attention. I never really gave much thought of how the economy could affect crime, regarding things such as rape. It seems that two such things see very unrelated but after reading this article I was in awe to see how wrong my assumptions had been regarding these two connections.

Its always really interesting how the economic well being of a country can effect sexism. Women are generally paid less and suffer more under economic heard ships, they also may find it harder to get jobs in economic downturns because employers would rather higher men.
